Catch It Early
Oesophacycle June 2019
On Saturday 29th June, our very own David Phillips and David Henshaw took part in the annual Oesophacycle. Organised by OGCancerNI as part of the “Catch It Early” Campaign, the Oesophacycle helps raise money for the fight against Oesophago-Gastric Cancer. A combination of oesophageal and gastric cancer, 440 people within Northern Ireland were diagnosed within 2016.
As a cause closely supported by our dear friends at Four Corners Sign and Display, the professionally organised event offered a challenge for those of all fitness levels. With 2 routes to choose from; Portadown to Newry (44mile by towpath) or Portadown to Carlingford (66 miles by road), the event was attended by a mix of casual and experienced cyclists.
With thunder and heavy rain threatening to make the day harder than anticipated, this would not deter the masses of supporters who kitted up to fundraise for a fantastic cause. Luckily, the poor weather quickly passed allowing for a mostly dry day to enjoy this wonderful occasion.
